Totally Bamboo | Kauai Cutting Board
19,99 $
A well-sized cutting board that’s just as happy prepping tonight’s dinner as it is holding cheese and crackers for guests. It’s reversible, so you get twice the use out of one board, and slim enough to slide into a drawer when you’re done. A kitchen staple that looks good sitting out on the counter too.
Hello There! You're about to leave Nova Earth and land on Amazon's site. Good news: we personally checked this exact product against our standards, though we can't vouch for everything else they sell. But.. you can always grab this one and come back for more plastic-free finds here.
Description
This two-tone bamboo cutting board is one of Totally Bamboo’s original designs, and it’s stuck around for a reason: the size is genuinely useful for everyday cooking without being bulky to store. The Kauai Cutting Board pairs a rich, caramelized bamboo center with lighter natural bamboo caps on either end, so it looks intentional rather than like a plain slab of wood, while still giving you plenty of surface area for chopping, slicing, or plating.
At 14-1/2 by 11-1/2 inches, it’s big enough to handle a real prep session, whether that’s breaking down vegetables for a stir fry or rolling out dough for a pie, but it’s not so large that it hogs counter space or won’t fit in a drawer between uses. It’s reversible too, so both sides are fair game for cutting, which effectively doubles its life before you’d ever need to think about replacing it.
Product’s Materials
The board is crafted from Moso bamboo, a fast-growing, renewable grass rather than a slow-growing hardwood, which is part of why bamboo cutting boards have become such a common switch from plastic. The distinctive caramel color in the center comes from a heat and steam process during manufacturing, not from any added dye or stain, while the lighter caps keep their natural, untreated tone. The pieces are joined using food-safe adhesive, and after assembly the board is finished with a food-safe mineral oil.
More to Know
This board is hand wash only. Don’t soak it or run it through the dishwasher, and let it air dry fully between uses to keep it from warping. For the best results long-term, Totally Bamboo recommends oiling the board about once a month with a mineral oil made for cutting boards, which helps it resist cracking and keeps the wood from drying out. It also comes backed by a 1-year warranty.
About The Brand
Totally Bamboo started decades ago almost by accident: founders Tom and Joanne Sullivan were making bamboo cutting boards out of leftover scraps from the furniture they sold at street festivals, brought a few along to an art show on a whim, and watched them sell out within minutes. That unplanned moment became the whole business. What started as scrap wood turned into a full line of bamboo kitchenware built around a material the founders liked for being sustainable, durable, and gentler on knives than plastic, and the brand has kept that same straightforward, functional approach ever since.
